Global Health Certificate

DOCARE’s Global Health Certificate Program recognizes members who demonstrate a commitment to global health education, service, and professional development. Through coursework, global health engagement, mentorship, and field experience, participants develop a deeper understanding of global health principles while advancing DOCARE’s mission of improving healthcare access and supporting communities around the world.

Participants are expected to complete all requirements within a three-year period while maintaining active membership in DOCARE International.

 

Program Fees

To support mentorship, program administration, participant tracking, and certificate issuance, the following fees apply:

Students and Residents

    • $100 Enrollment Fee
    • $50 Certificate Fee upon successful completion
    • Total Program Cost: $150

Healthcare Professionals

    • $200 Enrollment Fee
    • $100 Certificate Fee upon successful completion
    • Total Program Cost: $300

Participants who require an approved extension beyond the standard three-year completion period may be subject to an additional extension fee.

 

Mentorship

Participants will be paired with an experienced global health advisor who will provide guidance, support, and feedback throughout the certification process. Advisors are selected from DOCARE’s network of members and professionals with meaningful global health experience.

 

Program Requirements

To earn the DOCARE Global Health Certificate, participants must complete all of the following requirements within three (3) years of enrollment:

  1. Maintain Active Membership

Remain a current, dues-paying DOCARE Member in good standing throughout participation in the program.

  1. Complete Global Health Coursework

Complete a minimum of forty (40) hours of approved global health coursework through a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), college-level coursework, or other approved educational offerings.

    • Coursework may be completed through one or multiple courses.
    • Only coursework started after enrollment in the Global Health Certificate Program may be applied toward certificate requirements.
    • Participants must submit documentation verifying successful completion and dates of participation.
  1. Participate in Global Health Educational Events

Attend at least two (2) live or virtual local, national, or international meetings, conferences, webinars, or educational events related to global health.

Participants must submit documentation verifying attendance and event dates.

  1. Complete a DOCARE Global Health Experience

Complete one of the following:

    • A minimum of two (2) weeks participating in a DOCARE Global Health Outreach Rotation at an approved partner site; or
    • Participation in a DOCARE Global Health Outreach Trip.

For Outreach Trip participants, the required two-week experience does not need to be completed consecutively.

  1. Share Your Experience

Present your global health experience to a DOCARE audience through a live or virtual presentation.

Presentations may be delivered through a DOCARE meeting, educational event, student chapter, or another pre-approved venue.

 

Documentation Requirements

Participants may be asked to provide documentation supporting completion of program requirements, including:

  • Course completion certificates
  • Screenshots of completed coursework
  • Unofficial transcripts
  • Event attendance verification
  • Presentation verification
  • Other supporting documentation as requested by their assigned program advisor
